Back-to-school means early morning wake-up calls and a mad rush to get everyone ready and out the door in time. Too often, this means a quick but less-than-healthy breakfast, or worse, no breakfast at all. From getting enough rest to waking up in time to have a healthy breakfast, making good dietary choices at breakfast and lunch, and taking care of personal health and hygiene, there are many factors that don’t directly relate to school that have a tremendous impact on how well your children function during the day.

While healthy behaviors have a big impact on focus, attitude, and more, kids don’t often decide to do these things on their own. It’s up to parents to help their children establish healthy routines that stick all year long. Here are a few important healthy routines to cultivate now for year-long success.

Adequate Sleep is a Must
Making sure your kids get to bed at a reasonable time is one of the most important things you can do to boost their chances for success.

I took a vacation to visit my family in Bulgaria and decided to dedicate my time to reliving the Eastern European culture I grew up in and to searching for inspiration for future blog posts.

Walking around the tourist filled streets of my home town, Burgas, I found myself feeling nostalgic yet sad. Nostalgic for the culture I left behind when I moved to the US and sad for its shortcomings in relationships and raising children. Having visited plenty of playgrounds and overheard a number of adult-child conversations, I came up with the idea of a blog posts on the impact of hitting children.

Are you a father? Do you wonder what your role is when raising children? If so, allow me to continue my contemplation on the role fathers have in our society as a whole and in our individual lives in particular, and let's look at what you can do to be the best dad ever.

In Part I, I raised the question about the function of the father  and suggested that the function of the father is that of introducing a human being into a world of social responsibility. But what does that mean and how does that work exactly? Please, let me explain.

A father's law is the law of his word
First and most importantly, a father is someone, whose word holds true. A father’s law is the law of his word and his word is supported by his actions (as well as by the actions of his partner). The same is true in society - we live by the letter of the law and we face real life consequences if we brake it. The law has no value of it is not properly executed.
